1 year!

One year! It seemed to go by pretty fast, but not without alot of slippage, bunching and dealing with coloring the "roots". I learned so much from friends in the hair groups, (Lovinlocs family, past and present, thanks for all the support and giving me the encouragement to hang in there for so many years) and from reading other blogs and fotki's and still there are some ("Wow! I didn't know about that!") moments. There's nothing boring about locing, and you never stop learning either.

I still have some oh sh..! happenings too, like last week, I redid my roots with Natural Instincts Egyptian Plum, it made my tips a really surprisingly nice red, but on the other hand my hair was not ready for the after color conditioner that comes with it. I had ends that were loose and waving like Santa in the Macy's parade, and this old sista was freakin out! I did not want to take them down and redo them so I used a little JML gel and palm rolled the ends, actually there were only about 7 or 8 of them (at the time it felt and looked like half my head) and right in the crown area . That calmed them down and even after rinsing my hair a couple days after that, they're still holding their place. I really thought for a minute (a long azz minute) that I had messed up and was going to have to either start all over again or just say forget and go back to the puff. NOT!

My daughter got me a cap for Christmas that I just LOVE and just when I thought no one was listening to me or even cared about how much I loved what was going on with my hair, she sprung this on me and it's the exact style I've been trying to find, and it shows off my "pieces" (that's what I jokingly call my locs).

Nubianlockedprincess, my loc buddy, we made it! 1 year!

  1. Congrats! Kumina! You made it!I just finished coloring my hair! The samething happened to me! I used the conditioner that came in the box and a few of my locs loosened at the tips. I use Taliah Waajid`s conditioner and that did not happen. I guess the other condish was too rich! I could have stayed gray because the demi color barely took :( Oh well, I will tey again in a few months!

Blessings to you and your girls through out the new year!
