I can't believe how easy it is to use this little blue plastic needle! I've been using my trusty latch hook since I started locing in January 2008. Looking at my locs though I saw a few loops and twists instead of a good interlocking pattern. All that changed in October when my locbuddy, Nubianlockedprincess told me about using a yarn needle. I got a package at JoAnn's and made it and immediately I could tell the difference. It was close to impossible to control the direction when getting around the hook in the latch hook. And with the needle, just thread it on the loc and the other hand is free to direct the needle, feel the loose hair, do my directions and all without removing the tool and trying to find the place to reinsert. I don't combine locs anymore and I'm able to catch all the loose hair at the base of the loc without catching stray hair meant for other locs. I have 6 blue needles now, with a couple of them in different lengths, depending on the length of the loc.
Being able to share information on the forums is so helpful, plus it helps make new friends that have a common interest. No one in my family is interested in locs at all.
