I always say I'm going to give my hair a break and really I am...I color every two months now and I was still using coconut oil on my hair when dry. (My wet hair and oil don't mix) I band and do at least 2 shampoos between colorings. I using Eco Styler Olive Oil Styling gel to do my edges now instead of purple rain or JML locking gel. (the stores in my area have stopped carrying JML so I had to find something to take it's place. I had seen alot of videos about this gel and most of the responses have been very good. I got mine at Sally's for 2.99 for a 32 ounce tub. That's enough to last my daughter and myself for more than a year which is fine with me. It doesn't take a lot of gel for each section and it doesn't flake, get gummy or hard and crunchy. It actually makes your scalp feel moisturized, and your hair is shiny. Hair lines and the nape area are the only places I twist or smooth on my locs and my daughter the rest of our hair is latched. What really got me sold is that whereas I tie my edges down every night, my daughter does not but the gel held her hair smooth and she has a stronger texture hair so that's great.
Another product I'm giving a try is called one N only Argan Oil Hair Treatment. Sally's carries it for 7.99 for a 3.4 oz bottle and it doesn't take but a couple drops for an application. It's not greasy and makes your hair feel soft and moist. What I like is that it protects color treated hair from fading and I had that problem from some of the other oils I was using. The company claims it can be used during the coloring process by putting in a few drops in with the developer and color, shake and apply. It's supposed to allow the color to penetrate better. I don't know about that. I haven't tried it. I used it after I took my sponge rollers out and my hair felt so soft and springy, and when I touch my hair there is no greasy feel. I'll see how it does later on down the line, but for now, I'm pleased with both of these products.
I did not see the back of your head. The curls and color look so good!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's the 7th and it's still curled, it's never held that long.
ReplyDeletei reali like your hair :D
ReplyDeletecongrats for the blog
I have fallen in love with the argan oil for my clients that have loose hair that tangles. It seems to be the only thing that detangles their hair!!! Yay! Your hair looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you Morenike! I'm going thru a love/hate war with my locs right now. I don't think I'll cut them but I'm ready for some type of change. I still use Argan oil, but Sally's has jumped the price on it. I guess because it's so popular now.
